Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 12, 2026
This policy covers the iOS app Recipeas and the Recipeas website at recipeasapp.com.
Short Version
No accounts. No ads. No third-party tracking. We don't sell your data. The app makes anonymous requests to our recipe servers to fetch and rank recipes. If you choose to send a bug report, the report includes device model, OS version, and app version so we can fix it.
What Recipeas Does
Recipeas is a conversational chef backed by a library of over 4.3 million recipes sourced from public recipe sites. You tell the chef what you're craving, the app retrieves matching real recipes, and Apple's on-device model composes recipe ideas grounded in them. You can also search the full library directly.
Data We Collect
From your device, on purpose: nothing. The app does not require an account, contacts, location, camera, microphone, photos, or any personal identifiers.
From your device, anonymously, to make the app work:
- Recipe search queries (dish names or ingredient keywords derived
from what you type) are sent to our backend at
data.recipeasapp.comso it can return matching recipes. Queries are not tied to a user identity and are not stored after the request is served, beyond standard short-term request logs used for debugging and rate limiting. - Recipe data (titles, ingredients, images) is fetched from the same backend and cached on your device.
- When the chef composes a recipe, the app fetches an AI-generated photo of the dish from our backend. The request contains only the dish name and key ingredients — never your conversation, pantry, or any identifier — and images are cached so each dish is only generated once.
- Cloudflare, our CDN provider, may log standard request metadata (IP address, user agent, timestamp) for security and performance. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
If you choose to send a bug report: the report includes the device model name (e.g. "iPhone 16 Pro"), iOS version, and the app version + build number, along with the report text and a recent log snippet. It's used to fix bugs and is not linked to a user account or advertising identifier.
On-Device AI
Recipe generation runs entirely on your device using Apple's on-device model (iOS 26). Your conversations with the chef, your pantry ("My Kitchen"), grocery list, and cooked history stay on your phone and are never sent to a cloud chatbot or used to train any model. On devices without on-device generation, the chef shows matching real recipes directly.
Translation
Non-English recipe titles and ingredient lines are translated server-side via Cloudflare Workers AI before they reach your device. Your input is never sent to a third-party AI; only the recipe content from public sites is processed. Additional translation in the app (for example, viewing a full recipe in your language) uses Apple's on-device translation.
Children's Privacy
Recipeas is a recipe-discovery utility and is not directed at children under 13. Because it collects no personal information and has no accounts, it complies with COPPA.
Third-Party SDKs
Recipeas does not embed any third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, social, or crash-reporting SDKs.
TestFlight
If you access Recipeas via TestFlight, Apple may collect crash logs and usage statistics as described in Apple's Privacy Policy. That collection is performed by Apple, not by us, and we receive only anonymized aggregate data from Apple.
Website
recipeasapp.com is a static site hosted on Cloudflare Pages. We do not run analytics or cookies on this site.
